Addressing the need to respond to today’s increasingly strict environmental challenges and jobsite regulations, following the delivery of Spain’s first two new electric Genie® GS™-4655 slab scissor lifts earlier this summer, access equipment rental specialists MAXBER has just received a second eco-friendly Genie delivery. Including three, 16 m (51 ft 8 in) hybrid Genie® Z®-45 FE articulating boom lifts and a 20.16 m (65 ft 7 in) hybrid Genie® Z®-60 FE unit, for MAXBER, the acquisition of these four hybrid Genie boom lifts represents a turning point in the company’s rental strategy.
Designed to help rental companies and their customers rise to current and future environmental challenges, hybrid Genie Z-FE boom lifts combine the benefits of the quiet, zero-emissions efficiency of 100% electric powered equipment with the powerful 4WD performance of diesel powered machines — all within a single unit. Putting an end to batteries that run low, Genie hybrid (FE) technology offers a “2-In-1” solution that is both environment-friendly and highly versatile.
Adapted to an extremely wide range of applications, hybrid Genie Z-FE booms represent the ideal start to finish solution, indoors and outdoors, even on jobsites where an electric power source is not available. Operated in “all-electric” mode, these models can provide a full shift of operation on a single battery charge. In “hybrid” mode, they use their environmentally friendly Stage IIIB/Tier 4F engine-powered generator to maintain the state of charge of the batteries. In addition, as true “hybrid” machines, when braking or descending inclines, they use regenerative braking to recover energy that is in turn used to recharge their batteries. Used in ”hybrid” mode, hybrid Genie Z-FE booms offer more than a week of runtime on a single tank of diesel to perform extremely efficiently in rough terrain conditions.
While saving energy, hybrid Genie Z- boom lifts also boast “intelligent,” easy-to-use technology that significantly prolongs battery life while reducing operating and maintenance costs for excellent rental returns of invested capital (rROIC).
Bernardo Gomez, CEO, MAXBER says, “There is no doubt about it, in terms of noise and emissions, mindsets are changing and jobsite regulations are already far stricter now than a couple of years back. At MAXBER, our aim is to adapt to this new reality by offering the equipment customers need to rise to current and future challenges.”
He continues, “The acquisition of these four hybrid Genie Z-FE models comes in addition to the electric Genie Z® -33/18 boom lifts, Genie GS™-3369 scissor lifts and other eco-friendly models that we already own, and with which we are creating a new ‘green’ product group that we intend to market separately. As far as we see it, reduced impact on the environment is not the only benefit that these models have to offer. Their reduced maintenance and fuel consumption save time and costs for us as a rental company, but also for our customers since, even if we charge a slightly higher rate for our hybrid machines, the money customers save on fuel goes directly into their pockets. Over the coming five years, we are expecting this new ‘green’ category to grow rapidly to represent a much larger proportion of our fleet. In the meantime, we are confident that it will not be long before these models will be in strong demand in a number of sectors, notably for work in urban areas, in and around retirement homes, schools and hospitals or in the film production sector that is a dynamic source of business for our company.“
