2016 Purchasing Trophies: Manitou Group awarded 3 prizes

Manitou Group, the world leader in all-terrain material handling, received several awards from the industry during the 10th Purchasing Trophies in Paris on 20th June 2016: the Innovation for Business price, the Supplier Relations prize and the Purchasing Department and Team of the Year prize.

For its second participation in the Purchasing Trophies, Manitou Group was distinguished in 3 categories, from 46 entries, some from many large corporations. Each year, these Trophies highlight the diversity and effectiveness of the systems and processes used by the Purchasing Department.

Manitou Group obtained the highest distinction with the gold prize in the “Innovation for Business” category for its “Eco-Booster” hydraulic hybridization concept. This new concept involves reducing fuel consumption by improving machines’ performances and power. “This innovation, which has been carried out through full cooperation with our traditional partner Dana, is perfectly in keeping with our “Reduce*” program to manage and reduce fuel consumptions and CO2 emissions, opening up wonderful industrial perspectives”, specified Laurent Gobinet, Purchasing Director for Manitou Group.

The second prize awarded to Manitou Group was the silver price in the “Supplier Relations” category. It rewards the long-term relationship between the group and its partner FMGC (Fonderie et Mécanique Générale Castelbriantaise), based on a very strong regional base and a lasting relationship. “Following a diagnostic by our teams with our FMGC counterweight supplier, at the end of 2014 we launched an action plan to reduce operating costs both for our group and for our supplier”, said Laurent Gobinet.

The third prize won by Manitou Group was the bronze prize for the “Purchasing Department and Team of the Year”. This distinction recognizes the work of Manitou’s purchasing teams through sustainable and responsible collaborative actions with their suppliers, enabling costs to be reduced and risks to be managed while strengthening value creation.
